Diverse, creative and genuinely friendly. The rooftop and the bars get a lot of attention, but the everyday high street and Rye Lane are what make it. It's changing fast, which not everyone is happy about.

Loved the buzz and the food when I lived there, but opinions are genuinely mixed locally about how quickly it's gentrifying. Nightlife is great if that's your thing, less so if you want quiet evenings.

I'm over most weekends for the bars and galleries. Lively and a bit rough around the edges in a good way. The Overground makes it easy to get to, which helps.
