The river and the park make everyday life feel calmer than central London. Good schools and a proper town centre help. It's expensive and a fair way out, but for green space and a relaxed pace it's worth it for us.

Tip · Walking up Richmond Hill towards the park for the view over the Thames never really gets old.

We come for the park and the riverside walks regularly. The deer, the greenery and the calm are the appeal. It does get busy by the river on sunny weekends, but there's always space if you walk a little further.

People often describe it as green, calm and a little pricey, and that matches what I've seen. Further from the centre than many areas, so the trade-off is commute time against quality of life.

What is it like to live in Richmond?

Richmond sits within the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, and is often associated with deer, river and parkland. People often describe day-to-day life here in terms of transport links, the local high street, green space and the general atmosphere. Richmond is still gathering reviews, so there isn't yet a settled community rating — early impressions are worth reading in context.

How do people describe Richmond?

Reviewers describe the area in their own words rather than through marketing language. Many reviewers mention the things they notice most on an ordinary day — the walk to the station, where they get their coffee, how quiet the streets feel in the evening, and how connected the area feels to the rest of London. Experiences seem to vary depending on which part of Richmond someone knows best.

What are the main positives and drawbacks?

Some users appreciate the convenience, the local character and the sense of community, while others point out trade-offs such as noise, cost-of-living pressure or busy weekends. None of this is official guidance — it reflects personal experience. Reading a range of reviews, including the more critical ones, tends to give the most balanced picture of Richmond.
